We have always believed CASK IS KING. In an era when many breweries have prioritised keg, we have remained steadfastly committed to the brilliance of cask.
We brew around 60 different cask beers each year. Our team live and breathe cask. It represents beer in its purest form.
But it's not just about heritage. Cask has a natural secondary fermentation, it doesn't need CO2 like keg, so it is better for the planet.
Cask beer also spends less time in the tanks, making it the most cost-effective pint on the bar.

Dispell the myths. To celebrate the brillange of modern cask, we're showcasing the skills of the BBF brewers with a new series: DRIFT.
Four cask beers anchored by UK hops but then drifting around the world for complementary hop partners.
Try them across the South West from the 22nd - 25th October, when pubs around our city will be pouring Drift beers simultaneously.

Pubs are a vital space for many communities, but in the current economic climate, it's a tough gig.
82% of our sales are delivered direct to local independent venues. And we stand by that. As well as having our own pubs, we are an on-trade brewer, and always will be.
We believe fresh cask is the hallmark of an excellent pub. If you see a BBF pump clip on a handpull, you know you're in for a cracking pint.
WE CHAMPION CAMRA
The Champion Beer of Britain award is the highest honour CAMRA can bestow upon a brewer, and in 2026, we won it for Independence.
The award is the most sought after and well-respected cask beer competition in the world.
The lineage of the Champion Beer of Britain is impeccable. It features some of the best beers of all time: Landlord, Bluebird, Cwtch, JHB, Rudgate Ruby Mild, and now Independence.
GLUTEN FREE, WORLD CLASS CASK, NO COMPROMISES
One of the core principles we have here at BBF is making beer for all, without compromising quality. In 2025 we announced that every pint we brew, in every format, is GF. Including cask.
Making a beer gluten free makes zero difference to flavour, body… anything. If it worsened the product an iota, we wouldn’t do it.
If you’re thinking, why don’t more breweries do this? it’s because all this takes effort, skill, patience, and it costs money! You’ve got to spend on testing, and you’ve got to invest the right team, and of course, buy the right ingredients. We think inclusivity is worth it.
