THINK YOU KNOW BBF? THINK AGAIN, WITH A PINT 'OFF MENU'

Over in the Ashton Vale trading estate, a secret Brewer-led project has been underway.

BBF brewers make incredible beers; World-Class versions of any style they put their hand to. BBF beer is always sessionable, usually clear as a bell, perfect for drinking several pints in the sunshine and still finding your way home. We tend to steer away from making the high ABVs, the hazy IPAs, and the fruity numbers. The kind of pint you might have just once, “to try” – any more would be too indulgent for a weeknight.

Not with OFF MENU, a series of small-batch, highly crafted beers, where the brewers can push the boundaries, flexing their creative and scientific skills.

Take the first release – Brewer Rosie’s Steady Rolling Woman, a 5.7% hazy NEIPA. It's not what you would expect from BBF, but the Tap Room's Marketing Manager, Val, called it “best in class; a perfect example of a hazy New England IPA”. The pint was so thick and opaque that Head Brewer Tristan said it "surpassed the haze!"

BBF’s female brewers will continue to lead the way. Following Rosie’s OFF MENU debut will be two inventions from Briar. Look out for Peached As, a peach-forward Iced Tea beer, built on Everytime 3.8% for a bitter base. Then it'll be Hugo Spritz, which, as the name suggests, features gin, layered over Gravity Pils for dryness, with elderflower on the nose.

Limited edition is an understatement; these are exclusive, more expensive than our usual range, and highly select. Only 12 kegs of each beer will be made – that’s just 864 pints. Our Tap Room drank through their first and only keg of Steady Rolling Woman in just 48 hours!

These releases are so unique that only 24 hand-selected venues will even get the opportunity to pour them. Once we give a venue an OFF MENU lens, they are in the club, and they’ll get a week’s notice whenever a secret brew is en route.

If you see the OFF MENU lens on the bar, you’ll know you’re in a truly top-notch pub, one that Team BBF entrusts with this unique experiment. Ask the staff for more details; they might have a BBF poster or chalkboard to let you know exactly what’s pouring, or it might be a surprise. Either way, it’s special, and it won’t be around long.

Challenge your perceptions. Have a pint OFF MENU.
