Kicking off a SUMMER TO REMEMBER on the late May Bank Holiday weekend, Shindig is going to fill a hole in our souls this year. Namely, replacing that little June festival that Somerset is known for. Shindig is Glastonbury’s underground cousin, endorsed by Emily Eavis herself (apparently) and held just 10 miles away from Pilton in Wiltshire, at the Charlton Park estate, Malmesbury.

And Charlton Park is a truly special place. Previously home to WOMAD, this land has long been a place of culture, creativity and community. Vast rolling parkland, a stunning historic manor, and a magical arboretum filled with hidden woodland clearings that feel made for dancing. It’s a site built for exploration, surprise and those “HOW DID I END UP HERE?” festival moments we all love.

Despite the late-night dancing and revelry, Shindig is low-key super family friendly. Kids can roam the site free-range because there is so much for kids and teens to do. From the Crafty Corner to the Playground, baby-changing facilities to family camping near the car park, they have thought of everything. Probably because the Shindig team themselves all have kids from 3 years to fully grown!

It’s also brilliantly placed. Charlton Park is an easy drive from Bristol, around 45min to an hour, and just a short hop from nearby train stations, making greener travel more achievable - even for pals coming from further afield.
